Hello fellow
bodybuilding enthusiasts. My name is a Greg Doucette and I
have been training with weights (drug free) for 19 years.
I am 29 years old and have a degree in kinesiology.
I am
currently an elementary Physical Education teacher in the
small fishing community of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada.
I pride myself in giving 100% effort in whatever I do whether
it is academic, professional or athletic.
As far back as I can remember I have always been fascinated
with lifting heavy objects and having muscles. As a 4 year
old I even developed a hernia from lifting paint cans, rocks
and whatever I could get my hands on. At age 7 I used to sneak
out in the garage and lift weights over my head and throw
them on the floor (just like the Olympic lifters did on T.V.).
At age 10 my Dad decided I was finally old enough, so my twin
and me began working out with him doing full body workouts
3 times a week. I remember how much I used to look forward
to those workouts. We charted everything including weights
lifted and body measurements. To this day I still have them
and have charted my progress ever since.
By age 13 I knew I would one day compete as muscles were beginning
to form and I had already become very strong for my size.
I was bench-pressing 230 lbs weighing only 130. At 18 I felt
I was ready and entered and placed 1st in my very 1st Bodybuilding
competition. I was also competing in bench press contests
beating out much older competitors. Since then I have competed
in over 50 Bodybuilding and Powerlifting competitions.
I love training with heavy weights especially for squats,
deadlifts and the bench press. The harder the exercise, and
the more pain I can put myself through, the more I enjoy it.
I have a number of national titles in bodybuilding and powerlifting
as well as a few Canadian bench press records. I think most
bodybuilders take the easy road and do not train intensely
enough and just go for a burn with light weights. I think
a bodybuilder should not only look strong but also be strong.
Weighing only 180 lbs, a few of my best gym lifts include
benching 315 17 times, deadlifting 565 10 times, and squatting
455 for 6 really deep reps.
I am currently training to be the lightest guy in Canada to
bench press over 500 lbs as well as break a few more Canadian
Powerlifting Records. My next meet will be at the end of January
and I will be sure to let you know how I make out. As far
as bodybuilding ambitions I am still aiming to improve at
every competition and I will not rest until I win an overall
title and get my pro card. After which I want to be a competitive
threat on the pro circuit.
Feel free to contact me if you wish to share training philosophies
or if you have any questions. Until then good luck with your
training and I hope to see you competing at the various shows
in North America.

Greg Doucette
