February
is soon coming to an end. That means there is only 9 months
left until MM World Championships this coming November. I
only compete once a year because of my disabilities. Since
I won 1st place at the Musclemania Canada's in the Physical
Disability Category, I have now set my sights on the World
Championships.
To me this will be my greatest challenge to date. What better
way to prove to people that anything is possible, than going
on stage for the whole world to see. I will be able to see
for myself just how good I really am. Being on stage against
the best in the world will be the ultimate test. I am going
on stage to show everyone that here I am, someone with physical
disabilities. Someone, who at the age of 27 has gone through
over 20 operations, someone who the doctor's told was not
allowed to do any physical activities. Yet, come this November,
I'll be up on stage fighting against the best in the world
for the coveted title of World Champion.
Now here's a run down of my training regime that will get
me in shape for the Worlds. I have a 4 day program. 4 days
of training, 3 days of rest. I have chest and leg exercises
spread through out the days so that I can accentuate these
parts.
My program goes as follows:
Day
1
Flat
Barbell Bench Press
Flat Dumbbell Prone Press
Horizontal Fly/Cable Crossover
Incline Dumbbell Press/Fly
Round Bench Pullover
Alt Incline Dumbbell Curls
Standing Cable Curl E-Z Bar
Seated straight curl/concentration curl
Day
2
Alt
Leg Press
Alt Squat Dumbbell with ball
Alt Leg Extensions
Alt Lying Leg Curl
Seated leg curl
Dumbbell Pullover Flat Bench
Day
3
Wide
Grip Chins
Seated Cable Row (Overhand Grip)
Seated T-Bar Row
Alt Pull down Palestra
Reverse Grip Front Pull down
Lying Barbell Triceps Extension
Triceps Dips between Two Benches
Overhead Alt Triceps Extension
Day
4
Front
Barbell Press
Wide Grip Upright Row Barbell
Alt Incline Side Raise
Alt Bent-Over Lateral Raise
Barbell Shrugs
Seated Leg Curls
Round Bench Press/Fly
I am working
on bringing up my inner chest and my bad leg. For anyone that
has seen me at a show, they know that one of my best features
is my back. I have a 26” waist and a 40” lat spread.
Once these parts are brought up, my symmetry will look even
better.
I'd like to thank Musclemania for giving me this opportunity
to write to you. I have received many emails from people telling
me how my articles have inspired them to work harder and get
to the next level in their training. Here are a few e-mails
that I have received;
Hi there
Ryan and congratulations on all of your achievements to date...truly
awesome. I am a hospitality professional endeavoring to get
back in shape as I approach my 50th birthday, I will use your
example to inspire me to achieve my own goals in the future.
THANK
YOU and best wishes!

I'm an
illustrator, living in Montreal, and I've been training for
14 years, and still haven't yet competed. I normally like
to surf the net and found your profile at Musclemania. Really
inspiring! It motivated me more to take my training to a new
level, doing it naturally of course. I see you've trained
at Gym zone, might have seen you there. I train at power flex
gym in St-Laurent. Anyways, hope to hear from you.

Hi Ryan,
great web site. I saw your Musclemania article and I must
say it was truly inspirational. You are a good representative
for the sport. Hope you'll be doing more shows. Good luck
and train hard.
Jordan
Thank you all for writing to me. By doing so you in turn have
inspired me to train harder so that I can hopefully win at
the World Championships. When I go on stage I’d like
to think that I’m there to represent all of you. I represent
all those who have gone through hardships, all the people
that were told that they could not accomplish something, all
the people that are pictured to be underdogs. This contest
is for you. Be sure to check out my website for more news
and updates.
Until then,
Ryan Ortizo
