I want to thank you for all of the ongoing support. Your support is greatly appreciated and helps drive me in the competitive, tough sport of bodybuilding.
I've been competing within Musclemania since 2001. I recently turned Professional in Hollywood at the 2005 MM Worlds and will be competing in the pro division from here on out. I feel like I am apart of a wonderful organization and will do my best to be a positive image for it. Winning the heavyweight division last year was exhilarating to me; it was the result of a long-term goal I set for myself years ago. It made me realize that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to with enough hard work, positive thinking, and self-belief.
Becoming pro has opened up some doors for me within the fitness modeling industry. I've had the chance to work with photographers Norman Johansen, Irvin Gelb, Kurt Brown, and Matt Shepley. Several fitness modeling agencies have signed me as well. I had the opportunity to be featured in both mainstream muscle magazines, Muscle & Fitness and Musclemag International. I was not given much time to prepare for either one of the shoots, but it is a good start in the direction to where I want to go. The goal is to be featured on the cover of a magazine within a year from now and later obtain an endorsement of some kind.
The next competition I am gearing for will be the 2006 Musclemania World, this time in the pro division. I will have to join the likes of Ulisses Jr., David Whittaker, Anthony Villacci and Morris Mendez on stage, just to name a few of the great professional athletes. But I welcome the challenge; it will only push me further in becoming the best bodybuilder I can be. It's time for me to take my bodybuilding to the next level. I have been training really intense and have made some considerable gains this year already. I still have over 6 months to dial in an improved package of symmetry, muscle mass, and conditioning. It will be interesting to see how the improvements I make will shape up against the pros I share the stage with.
I'm enjoying myself in Southern California since moving from Wisconsin , Milwaukee to be exact. I am in the Mecca of bodybuilding now. My twin brother, Matt, has moved out here too and lives a similar lifestyle. He has competed in the past before, but has decided to move away from competitive bodybuilding. We both have acting ambitions and that's one of the reasons we moved out here. I plan on using bodybuilding and fitness modeling as a stepping stone for acting. It can give me the exposure I need to best market myself and image. We recently signed with both commercial and theatrical agents and go to auditions on a regular basis.
I want to thank the judges of Musclemania (Danny Hester for one) and Lou Zwick for recognizing my talent in bodybuilding. I've made some good friends and acquaintances since competing within the drug-tested organization. It's been a great experience to say the least and I know the best is yet to come. I want to wish all the great competitors out there luck with their training this year. I'll be updating again soon, so stay in touch!
Stay strong and healthy,
James
