PLAYTIME IS OVER!
After finishing second last year in the 2004 Superbody World and Musclemania World Championship in June and November, respectively, it's high time for me to regain lost glory. I'm totally focused and dead serious! I usually take about four to five months off to enjoy some of my favorite foods I haven't eaten for quite sometime. I really love the off-season because it is the only time I can be with my loved ones and have good times. I never have to think about what I will eat! My schedule is open because I don't go to the gym that often - at the most, I go three times a week. During this time, I'm often seen in fast food places with my family, enjoying the meals we love, especially pizza and ice cream.
My usual off-season weight is 205 to 210 lbs., but I changed my strategy. Playtime is over! I started dieting on January 10 in preparation for Superbody in Miami Beach carrying a weight of only 180 lbs. My last show was the 2004 Musclemania World in November. I dieted for two weeks after this show, before I finally began eating in moderation the food that I enjoy and working out everyday with a 30-minute cardio exercise in the morning. I only took about 40 days off. This was the shortest off-season I have experienced, although it does not coincide with standard bodybuilding principles, nor with my wish to be with my family. But at this point in time, I feel that I must make sacrifices and be totally dedicated to reaching and surpassing my goals. I feel that I am up to the sacrifice and the challenge. I am now focusing on my whole lifestyle. Bodybuilding isn't just 90 minutes in the gym - it's a way of life!
It has been 11 weeks since I started dieting. I am now in superb condition at 163 lbs. I'm ready for the contest. I only lost 17 lbs., but I am more cut, more vascular, dense, and with more striations in my glutes. I'm very happy with the results of all the sacrifices. I have lost approximately 1 1/2 lbs. a week, which is a very good sign that I protected my lean muscle mass. I am stronger than ever and I can still use the weights I use in the off-season. God willing, things will only get better and I will take Superbody by storm. Until next time: Dream! Believe! Survive! Because, as I said, "Play time is over!
