I am 100% dedicated to natural bodybuilding.
If I weren’t doing it, there would be a serious void
in my life. My amazing symmetry and leanness, combined with
an inviting, friendly and charismatic expression, places me
in an elite category.
I was born in Chicago, IL, where I lived until
the age of 5, and then my family and I moved to the country
of Liberia on Africa. I spent the next ten years there and
then moved back to the United States to Arlington, TX. It
was a personal experience in Texas that sparked my interest
in natural bodybuilding. While I was working as a manager
at a Pizza Hut, a woman from the neighboring business, Force
Five Gym, stopped in for a pizza. I was very skinny at the
time, but always rolled up my shirt sleeves while I was working.
Linda, one of the partners of the husband/wife team of Force
five Gym, noticed the defined shape of my arms and told her
husband emphatically that I should be in the gym.
When I first stopped by Linda’s gym,
I didn’t even know what a bench press was. I started
by lifting just 10-20 lbs. on each side. This may sound laughable
but I wasn’t fazed. After that first experience, I never
turned back. Now I’m lifting up to 315 lbs. just for
repetitions. I have a persistence and drive that makes me
stick to it.
It was after I moved to Minnesota in 1996
that I started competing. In 2000, I was the Mr. Midwest overall
champion. I placed 4th in the Musclemania International competition
in 2001 and the Superbody World competition in 2003. I also
made an appearance on ESPN’s Musclemania World in 2001.
In addition to perfecting my own body, I am
also inspiring others as a personal trainer. Now I am the
owner of my own gym in Minneapolis, MN. Because of my commitment
to children’s health, I started a non-profit sports
organization called “Stride International” to
help children achieve their fitness goals through athleticism.
Currently, I am training for Musclemania Superbody
in Miami Beach and this time I hope to come home with the
title.
Stay healthy,
Bolo
