Well, now that the Holidays and MM Worlds have come and gone, we can get back to business and prepare for the next challenge. And before we get started, no I’m not pleased with my placing at the Worlds, and yes I accept it. The lineup of guys at the Worlds was awesome. Lots of hard working and genetically gifted athletes. I was aiming the top spot, and I took the gamble of trying something new. We all want to do good, and sometimes we take chances and try new methods in the hopes of coming in a little better than the last time. You sometimes have to sacrifice a contest in the hopes it will give you that little extra, because you can’t duplicate the same conditions (next to zero bodyfat, stress of competition, flight, etc…) in the off-season as just before a contest. My mistake was to seek advice from someone else and try it on the most important contest of all. I wanted to know what other experts in this field were doing and get more knowledge. The guy is qualified and has helped several of his clients win championships and turn Pro, but I just wasn’t able to achieve with him the same conditioning as when I did my own thing (which got me four overall titles and three Pro cards). But as the saying goes ‘’if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it’’, and I learned that.

I’ve been keeping myself busy running my personal training business here in Montreal and I’ve also been busy giving conferences on physique transformation, stress and weight management. I love those speaking engagements where I get to share my knowledge with others. Training is going well, but I might skip MM Superbody in Miami to give myself more time to add some more meat on my frame. Who knows, I’m never far from contest shape anyway.

This month’s contest prep tips are: Make sure you include coconut oil (about 3 tbsp./day) and fish oil (9-14g./day). Always stay well-hydrated (3 litres water/day minimum), and keep sodium pretty high (about 3 g.). L-glutamine (20-40g.) is your best friend during contest prep. With adequate quality proteins, fibrous carbs coming mainly from vegetables and oatmeal, and micronutrients, you can get ripped and keep all those well-earned muscles.

I’d like to congratulate all the winners at MM Worlds and I was very pleased to see Big Man David Whitaker get his Pro card by winning the overalls in the men’s open. I’ve competed against him before and found him to be a true gentleman and a great guy. Congrats to Hassan Jama, also a great guy. Respect to Kurt Tomlinson, Caine Went, Anthony Villacci and Trevor Ryan.

I will have my own website up and running soon, so check it out (larryvinette.com)

I’d like to thank all the fans out there. I appreciate your support and thanks for the nice Emails. Means a lot.

‘Till next time, keep fit, stay focused and enjoy yourself.
