Hello Musclemaniacs:

First, I want to thank God for making all this possible for me. I also want congratulate and say hey to all the Delta competitors. I am glad I got a chance to meet all of you. I am looking forward to seeing the delta crew in the future. I want to send a special congratulation out to my training partners. My boy Tyson took first in the juniors, and Ryan took second. Chris Hart took third in the light weight. I also want to thank Lou for putting on an excellent show. I had a lot of fun competing at this show.

Like I said I had a lot of fun competing at this show, but the road to the show was a little bumpy for me this time. When I was 6 weeks out I was on schedule. I stood just under 6% bodyfat and I was still keeping most of my weight. I got a little side tracked with work and family matters and fell behind a little for the show. At four weeks out I was still just under 6% bodyfat, so in that two-week period I did not lose anything. Now I had to turn it up big time. I had to decrease calories tremendously and add a lot more cardio. You are going to think I am nuts when I tell you what I did for this show.

I dropped my calories (4 weeks out) to 1000 a day and upped my cardio to 3 times daily, totally 2 ½ to 3 hours daily. At 3 weeks out, I kept my cardio the same, but I dropped my calories to 800 a day. On Saturday I upped my calories to no more than 1800 calories, and on Sunday I had my calories at 1500. I kept everything the same until a week out from the show. I started to drop my cardio to 1 to 2 hours a day depending on how I was feeling. I also started to up my calories slightly (1200 a day). As you can see I put my body through a lot of stress. Oh! Thanks Tyson for getting me through the times where I did not think I could keep going.

Even though I went through all this, I was fine until the day of the show. I got really sick early Saturday morning. When we were outside for the media shoots I started getting really light headed and shaky, so I had to leave early to go to the hotel and lie down. Because I was feeling bad, I was unable to eat anything all day Saturday. My stomach would not hold on to anything. Just before the show I started to feel a little better, so I was able to enjoy being on stage and have fun at what I love doing.

The Monday following the show I tried to jump back on my diet so I could stay ahead of schedule for the Musclemania Worlds in California, but my body was not going to have that. By Wednesday I started getting sick again, so I went to the doctor. They ran all kinds of tests; I was in the doctor’s office for 6 hours, but everything came out fine. So I took a little time off of my diet to recuperate. Hopefully, I will be competing at the Worlds. I will let everyone know around 6 weeks out if my plans change. If I am on schedule 6 weeks out I will be there.

Remember to keep God first!

God bless,
Carey Addison
