Hey everyone!
My name is Brad Borland. I have
been competing for most of the past seven years in various
natural organizations, but Musclemania has proven to be a
leader in natural bodybuilding. As a lifetime natural athlete
I feel it is the right direction bodybuilding is headed, as
I try to recruit as many as I can to take the natural road
to a better physique and to compete one day. I work as the
Coordinator of Rec Services at Southeastern Louisiana University
and am also as coordinator of Wellness and Personal Training
and Programs where - I've had the pleasure to work with Carey
Addison over the last few years. I am a member of the Air
National Guard and proudly served in Afghanistan in 2003.
However, upon coming home from
Afghanistan I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, an immune
system cancer. My brother and father had the same type of
cancer before, but I thought it would somehow skip me. I went
through 8 1/2 months of chemotherapy. I lost over 30 pounds,
a little hair, and a lot of energy. I would not have done
as well as I have if it was not for all of my family and friends
checking up on me from time to time and keeping good company.
Most of all my girlfriend Brooke was there by my side the
entire
time. Thank you baby! And also thank you to all that wrote
to me or called, it was much appreciated and worth it.
Currently I have been finished
with chemotherapy for almost four months, have gone from 198
lbs to 230 lbs, and have all of my energy back! I train very
basically training everything twice per week with Sundays
off (the old Arnold way) use a moderate number of sets and
low reps. I eat a very traditional bodybuilding diet full
of whole grains, potatoes, pasta, fruits, vegetables, oatmeal,
chicken, beef, eggs, some healthy fats, protein powder, creatine,
and multivitamins. I am very excited and motivated to compete
very soon possibly in the Musclemania Superbody coming up
this June in Miami Beach.
Take care of yourselves,
Brad
